Procedures for childbirth
When you give birth, you can take steps to register the newborn infant as a dependent. In addition, you can receive cash benefits in the form of a "childbirth and childcare lump-sum grant," and apply for measures to reduce insurance premiums. You must apply to receive these benefits.

Procedures for registering an infant as a dependent

Immediately submit the "Dependent (Change) Notice for Health Insurance System" and the "Survey form for individuals eligible for medical assistance (public assistance)" to the individual in charge of health insurance matters at your workplace. Approval will be retroactive to the infant's date of birth.
